When most people think of October, they think of Halloween - why fight it? Some of the most creative and entertaining promotions revolve around this fun holiday, so decorate your office, wear costumes, and sponsor patient appreciation activities like a wellness goody bag with samples and information for both kids and parents, a contest for best costume, or a kid's health and safety essay competition.

And while we're talking about the young folk, hopefully you screened lots of children this past month for scoliosis - how many did you miss? Keep the patient education flowing on this important topic - the families of your practice need to have the information that makes it possible for them to make great choices about their lifestyle, and you are their only real source of wellness information. Tell them your truth, passionately and intelligently, and you will be delighted with the result.

October also marks the beginning of the fourth and final quarter of the year - if this has been a terrific record-breaking year, then prepare to complete the set with a solid fourth quarter. If not, then there is still ample time to turn it around - but it will require immediate, massive action - get to work.
