February 2004

There are lots of opportunities for piggy-backing on events in February — whether it’s Valentine’s Day (give your sweetheart the gift of wellness), President’s Day (I cannot tell a lie — you need a check-up) or winter sports (do you take better care of your skis than your body), a little creativity can boost your practice.

Don’t forget to get an early reality check on your statistics — if you started strong, don’t coast, push down on the accelerator a little, and if you had a shakier start, then focus your power and get back into it. Your numbers reflect both your current efforts and your overall capacity, so look objectively at both and decide where your energy is best invested.

Watch your days worked and your visits per day statistic — it is a telling sign of your capacity, and can give you instant feedback about how to structure your goals and troubleshoot areas of limitation. Also, don’t overreact to large pluses or minuses in your stats this early in the year — it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself accordingly.

If you do see an area in dire need of help, use the pods and open consulting to augment your coaching visits and move yourself ahead as effectively as possible. Your conscientiousness will pay off.
